Adding Benches and Planters to your Northern Virginia Deck
One of the easiest things you can do to add flair and beauty to your deck is the addition of planters and benches. Decks are extremely popular with home owners in northern Virginia (NOVA) and for that matter the entire Washington DC metropolitan area. Decks with additional add-ons such as benches and planters can really add charm and beauty to your home and not to mention additional value.
Seating should always be top priority for any outdoor area especially decks. Think about it, "what good is it to have a great deck and not have a place to sit"? You may wish to consider permanent deck benches or free standing Adirondack types of wooden chairs. You may also wish to consider having ottomans or coffee tables built as matching accessories for your deck. Make certain, should you choose to build these items yourself that the materials are for outdoor use (non -corrodible fasteners and brackets and pressure treated wood is best). The construction of these items can be included when you have your deck built or can be added later.
For planters there are a couple of solid options you may wish to consider:
- A simple box type of planter that you can put pots in
- A much cleaner look is a planter that serves as its own flower pot.
For larger decks you may also wish to consider using planters as partitions to differentiate areas like a lounging or cooking area. Using simple planter boxes can add a whole new level of intrigue and style to any deck.
While you may think both benches and planters are very simple structures or additions to your deck, they go along way in giving simple boring decks character and add quality to your lifestyle. Adding these items will also really help set your deck apart from those of the neighbors and loads of enjoyment as well.
Our team of expert deck builders and deck designers can show you a host of options should you decide that you want to add planters or built in furniture to your custom deck. For ideas take a look at our decks photo gallery or schedule a time to meet with one of our expert deck designers.
