Tips on Cleaning a Northern Virginia Wood Fence
One of the most important factors we stress at Builders Fence Company to all of our customers located in Northern Virginia and The Washington DC metropolitan area is that they should protect the investment they have made in their wood fence. Winters at times can be harsh and summers can be unseasonably humid in the areas we serve including Reston Va, Centreville Va, Sterling Va, Herndon Va, Falls Church Va and Arlington Va. And weather can cause wear on wooden fences. Irrelevant if your fence is made of Cedar or Pine or some sort of composite materials we recommend that you clean your fence of dirt and mildew ever so often. The easiest and most efficient way is by power washing. A few very important and simple tips to help in cleaning your fence:
Use Cleaning Detergents
When cleaning heavily soiled or stained fencing surfaces, use cleaning detergents formulated for pressure washers.
TOOLS & MATERIALS:

- Deck & Siding Wash Formulated for Pressure Washers
- Eye Protection
- Floor Brush
- Rotating Brush
SITE PREPARATION
- Remove any obstacles from the work area.

DISTANCE WHEN CLEANING
If you are using a power washer between 2000psi and 3000 PSI we recommend keep your nozzle distance 18 to 24 inches away. Maintain a constant distance between the nozzle and the cleaning surface to prevent "zebra striping".
If you are uncertain that you wish to clean your fence yourself, give Builders Fence Company a call and we can recommend a vendor to you.
